ABSTRACT
Urban settlements are growing fastly and development is occurring in bits and pieces forming haphazard spatial development. This
phenomenon is very popular and common in developing countries. The areas those were planned for fifty thousands of people have
crossed limits and some have attained the status of metropolitan or mega cities. Although the size and population of cities have increased
but on the other hand these cities has lost its character. The open areas are replaced with high rise buildings. Indeed the city comprises of
high rise buildings but parallel to this has lost its natural landscape. The people are paying the price of this in form of severe pollution
caused by different sources. Due to this pollution not only these areas are losing its aesthetics and natural landscape but also human
health is affected severely.
This paper will explore the destructions caused by industrialization. The paper will explore the most
severe areas where landscape is destroyed. At end certain recommendations will be made those will surely help the city managers to think
seriously on the growth patterns and will guide to follow the principles when making development control.
